Announcing StripeCon NZ and StripeCon EU 2017

StripeCon, the conference dedicated to SilverStripe CMS/Framework, is coming to Wellington, New Zealand for the first time. On the other side of the world, the 4th StripeCon EU, SilverStripe European Conference 2017, is scheduled to arrive in the heart of the Mediterranean at Malta.

Back to the birthplace

SilverStripe CMS was born in February 2000 in the ‘coolest little capital of the world’ Wellington. It was the dotcom boom with lots of hype, craze, as well energy and passion. Three Wellingtonians, Sam Minnée, Sigurd Magnusson and Tim Copeland had a vision for limitless possibilities of the web. The result was what we know today as the open source SilverStripe CMS/Framework, endorsed by thousands of community members, hundreds of developers and agencies, and downloaded over 1 million times all around the world.

With SilverStripe 4 stable release coming in October, we will mark this new era by having StripeCon NZ in the city where the CMS was born. The event will remind all SilverStripers why they fell in love with this CMS in the first place.

What to expect at StripeCon NZ

We are still planning the details for StripeCon NZ but here’s a quick run-down of what you should expect from StripeCon NZ:

• When: Friday 24 November 2017. We will have pre-event drinks at a local bar the evening before (Thursday 23 November 2017).

• Where: Te Papa – the iconic national museum and art gallery of New Zealand.

• Call for papers: Expect to hear about SilverStripe 4, the latest web development tools, inspirational case studies, as well as see some awesome demos. If you want to present at StripeCon NZ, please submit your talk by Monday 14 August 2017.

• Activities and swag: We may have a game or two for you to compete with your fellow SilverStripers. We may even show you around the city and make you believe why Wellington is named the ‘coolest little capital of the world’. And some amazing swag is ‘in development’ for you to take home and treasure the moment forever.

What about StripeCon EU?

If you are in Europe, we’ve got exciting news for you as well. StripeCon EU, the SilverStripe European Conference 2017, is also confirmed – we will take you to the Mediterranean Sea this year.

• When: Thursday 12 October (a barbeque in the evening) – Saturday 14 October 2017

• Where: Mediterranean Conference Centre, Malta

• Call for papers: If you are interested in giving a talk at StripeCon EU, please email info@stripecon.eu with details of your full name, company name, talk title and abstract, and short bio by Monday 7 August 2017.

• Activities and swag: We will throw in a barbeque on the Thursday evening before the event. You can also take home a t-shirt and other local goodies, so make sure you answer the question on your t-shirt size and type when you purchase the ticket on the meetup page.
