Document Management System module just got better

Supported by the CWP co-funded development pool, we’ve enhanced the Document Management System (DMS) module, making it easier to create, maintain and manage documents.

Document Management System module

The updated DMS module draws source code from MPI's Doc Vault module. The DMS module is a shared storage area that provides a basic ‘asset’ repository suitable for documents and other files.

The Document Management System module is set up to:

Manage documents into sets, physical files and binaries of any kind (subject to platform upload restrictions).

Provide extra metadata with an extensible interface for developers.
Apply security permissions to documents.

Document Cart module

Building on top of the updated DMS, we’ve also open sourced MPI’s Document Cart module that allows users to request hard copies of documents or publications – like a shopping cart feature for documents but without payment processing.

The Document Cart is set up to:

Provide website visitors with a link to ‘Request a Printed Copy’ for documents presented on a website (subject to access rights).
Add the selected document reference to the ‘cart’ and allow the user to set a quantity and complete the request for printed material.
Upon completion, provides the user with an email confirming their requested documents and detailing the documents requested by the user.
