It's shaping up to be an exciting year for SilverStripe as we open our first Northern Hemisphere office in March 2015! Our first European location will be in Central London as it serves as a perfect hub to support development agencies using SilverStripe across both the UK and Europe. With a loyal base of SilverStripe developers including three open source core committers already based in the UK, it’s exciting to see how a physical office can grow the community further. The London office will provide crucial real time and technical support for European agencies using SilverStripe helping to replicate the market presence in New Zealand.
SilverStripe CEO/Co-founder Sam Minnée, CTO Hamish Friedlander and myself will be travelling to London for a series of pre-launch activities ahead of the office opening. We’d love to see you at as many of these events as possible and look forward to sharing more plans with you (along with a beverage or two)!
PHP UK Conference: 19th & 20th February 2015
We’re delighted to announce that our first event in the UK is track sponsor at the 10th Annual PHP UK Conference. Started in 2006 the conference aims to offer the local PHP community access to industry updates and professional development at an affordable rate. The conference is run solely by volunteer members of the PHP London community. This is a fantastic conference bringing together inspirational PHP experts from around the world, there are still tickets available and you can check out the full program here.
We’re excited to be part of the conference and are looking forward to meeting PHP developers from around the UK and Europe.
SilverStripe Introductory Sessions: 25th February 2015
The week following the PHP UK Conference, we will be holding two introductory sessions for businesses and developers wanting to know more about SilverStripe. As well as learning about our open source software, it's a chance to exclusively hear our plans for UK and Europe, including our London office opening in March 2015. It’s suited to those already in the SilverStripe community as well as those wanting to know what all the hype is about. Feel free to pass on an invitation to others you think may want to join us.
We will be holding two sessions at Beach Blanket Babylon in the Central London tech hub of Shoreditch, see the RSVP site for full details. Guests are welcome to attend both the non-technical lunch and the developer-focused evening session (there will be a small amount of content cross-over between the sessions).
Session 1: Business Lunch and Learn
This session is perfect for account managers and those of you in business development roles with development agencies wanting to know how SilverStripe can help in future projects to deliver more complex and ambitious sites for blue chip customers.
At this "lunch and learn" session you’ll hear how our open source software is being using by banks, telcos, power companies and government agencies across Australasia. You'll also hear from SilverStripe's CEO Sam Minnée on our plans for the UK and Europe.
Session 2: Developer Drink & Discover
Join us for a technical session best suited for developers either using SilverStripe or interested in starting. At this event you’ll learn how SilverStripe's open source software empowers web teams to build better sites while SilverStripe Platform silences the distractions that get in your way. Both CEO Sam Minnée and CTO Hamish Friedlander will be presenting.
If you’re based in London—or can make it there for the day—we highly recommend securing your place at these events today. Spaces are strictly limited; you can RSVP at our own London Events page.
SilverStripe lessons from CEO/Co-founder Sam Minnée
This is a rare opportunity to learn from one of the SilverStripe founders in a small classroom session. Sam will be holding two training sessions, one for PHP developers interested in starting in SilverStripe and the other a masterclass perfect for those already experienced in SilverStripe wanting to learn some new tricks.
Dates and locations for Sam's training courses will be announced next week. To register your interest early please email me directly.

Just learned yesterday that SilverStripe is opening i London. Really awesome.
We are a couple of small companies in Denmark that are quite excited about SilverStripe, so perhaps you should visit Copenhagen, Denmark at some time to hear about our business and what we've done.
Some of our clients are a little bit afraid of creating larger scale web apps based on SilverStripe, mainly because there isn't enough developers in Denmark or Europe to support it, so a London office will be helpful I think.
Really exciting news.
