NGK Spark Plugs (UK) is one of the leading automotive and technical ceramics suppliers, providing spark plugs and sensors for a wide range of applications.
Bigfork have a long standing relationship with NGK Spark Plugs (UK) having been involved in developing and maintaining their original Part Finder application - an interactive web-based tool allowing technicians to identify the correct plug or sensor for a given vehicle or engine.
We were appointed to redevelop the Part Finder and we took the opportunity to really drive it forward.
Being able to keep data current was a key requirement, as the previous Part Finder was time consuming to maintain. We decided to build the new website on a Silverstripe 4 content management system which allows NGK Spark Plugs (UK) to import data from Excel directly into the system as well as maintain individual data rows in case of errors or minor updates.
As the Part Finder contains thousands of products, adding images were a challenge. We devised a system allowing bulk image uploads that would automatically map images to products throughout the website, completely removing the need to any manual intervention. Downloads and videos can also be added using the content management system which provide useful information to customers.
The new Part Finder website design is fresh, modern and mirrors the main NGK Spark Plugs (UK) website while having its own identity. We redesigned the product selection process to be as intuitive for people to find information, and are continuing to work with NGK Spark Plugs (UK) to add new features that make it even more useful, such as the recent upgrade Guide.
